The Jewish religion presupposes the existance of God thus "In the
beginning, God created . . . . " The Christian religion got contaminated
by Greek philosophy and adopted Greek logical proofs for the existance of
God. Now that the traditional Greek logical proofs are almost universally
rejected the Christians feel the need to logically prove the existance of
God instead of fakling back on the Jewish tradition of ignoring the
question.
(the silliest "proof" is the Aquinas (?) proof which starts something
like "Consider the most powerful being you can think of . . . ?)
