Going the other way...

Following Jones' stunning analysis of Popper, I revised my assessment
of some other long-misunderstood pieces of literature. The "Declaration
of Independence", I've come to realize, is a magnificent defense of the
divine right of kings. Hitler's "Mein Kampf" shows the inherent moral
problems of doing anything other than asserting equality of all peoples.
And Rachel Carson's "Silent Spring" is actually a celebration of
unfettered industrial and agricultural practices. Jones' analysis of
Popper must stand as one of the most perspicacious and important works
of scholarship ever to have been handled by the servers at Calvin
College, with wide-ranging implications for the entire body of Western
literature.

I can only imagine the private guffaws that each of the authors must
have enjoyed considering the vast readership who would simply accept
the surface reading of their works as holding the true meaning, all
the while brilliantly putting forth each carefully crafted counter-
thesis that simply eludes lesser intellects.
