I might point out that in some sense embryological development is an
"unfolding from within". I am not trying to make the point about
recapitulation, but each embryo starts looking pretty much like any other
embryo in the living world and develops into something quite as different as
a flower and a dog. The obvious reason we do not object to this type of
"evolution" is that we can see it occur in a few days to months. The other
type takes longer.
