Yeah, I know. The trouble is that I've used that term too, meaning what
you wrote above. And, as with "Darwinism," gotten the same kind of
reaction. As a matter of fact, I was once advised to use "Darwinism" in
place of "evolutionism."
What I conclude is that whatever term I use, I'd best explain its use!
The term I prefer, actually, is "accidentalism." But I don't see others
using it.
