This is a theme I have wanted to comment on for some time. It seems to me
that creationists want Christian convictions to enter into the practice of
science in a different way than in other professions. Brian Diemers is one
of the Cross Country coaches at Calvin College. He's a Christian and
regularly prays for the team members. But when he is dealing with the
training needs of individual runners such as my son who runs on his team,
he applies his experience and training. I am engaged in research which
will, I hope, lead to more cost-effective active and semiactive
suspensions. I ask the Lord to guide me in my work, but any ideas I
propose have to be evaluated by strictly materialistic criteria: can they
be implemented safely and cost-effectively.
