The Empire's magazine Slate (a New Republic clone: deeply
liberal/neo-liberal in outlook but not -quite- doctrinaire [not always,
anyway]; clever; sophisticated; intelligent) has a discussion between
Phillip Johnson and Philip Kitcher discussion evolution and science
education.

Should evolution be taught in schools? Berkeley law professor
Phillip E. Johnson and Columbia philosophy of science professor
Philip Kitcher take up the debate in a Dialogue:

Johnson: Viewing the vast gap between the evidence and the claims,
many of us suspect that the Darwinists have succumbed to the
temptation that science is supposed to protect us from. They
believe what they want to believe, rather than what the evidence
shows.

Kitcher: The latest attempts to perpetuate the scientific ignorance
of American schoolchildren come from people who have learned the
lesson of the old failures. The neo-creos are far too savvy to
commit themselves to any creation model.
