Of course *if* one takes a YEC time scale then the loosing of so much of
the Earth's spin angular momentum and rotational kinetic energy *would*
require a catastrophe, as the tidal coupling between the Earth and the
Moon is too weak to accomplish the task in less than hundreds of millions
of years--let alone thousands of years.
It looks like I need to get more rest.
