You can't conflate non-reductionistic categories (ontological/theological)
with reductionistic categories (historical). It's hockey pucks and
footballs . . . it's like Glenn and Denis ;-)
Historical events certainly can give impetus for making/extrapolating
ontological/theological statements, but the latter do not need a
historical context to validate them (eg. the parable of the Good Samaritan
functions very well in the Scriptures without there being a historical
event supporting it).
To reiterate with new thoughts, God's non-reductionistic revelation
(through the Holy Spirit) can be CARRIED by a system based on
reductionistic categories which may have been the state of the art at one
time but have since been superceded by a truer set of reductionistic
categories--This by no means undermines the valid/reality/importance of
God's non-reductionistic revelation . . . rather is separates it from the
"chaff" of the earlier CARRIER.
To put it simply: it ain't the NUMBER of days that is important, it's
that He CREATED the days. The former is a reductionistic statement, the
latter is non-reductionistic.
And "zai Ji Du li ni de ge-ge" to you too,
