Bill writes: "Good example. How do you react to alleged Bible contradictions
from
atheists, cynics, etc.? Usually it's obvious that the critic is either
unaware of, or discounting without justification something Christians are
well aware of."

I had not thought of this (obvious) example. But it happens all the time
on my Compuserve forum. A number of people get great glee talking
about how "the Bible teaches that pi's value is 3." As if their words had
any relevance to theories of science or scripture! A few benighted souls, trying
to address the issue rationally, get hooted down.

I think that most scientists must regard the writings if ICR et.al. in about the
same light. In the category of the National Inquirer. Unfortunately, those who
take a more reasonable approach to the Christianity/origins issues, such as
those in the ASA, are all too often lumped together with the ICR folks.

A friend of mine just lent me Polkinghorne's FAITH OF A PHYSICIST.
I had to immediately buy my own copy. It is books & articles such as
this one that must carry the day in today's secular world.

But I fear I am "preaching to the choir... ."
