I had not thought of this (obvious) example. But it happens all the time
on my Compuserve forum. A number of people get great glee talking
about how "the Bible teaches that pi's value is 3." As if their words had
any relevance to theories of science or scripture! A few benighted souls, trying
to address the issue rationally, get hooted down.
I think that most scientists must regard the writings if ICR et.al. in about the
same light. In the category of the National Inquirer. Unfortunately, those who
take a more reasonable approach to the Christianity/origins issues, such as
those in the ASA, are all too often lumped together with the ICR folks.
A friend of mine just lent me Polkinghorne's FAITH OF A PHYSICIST.
I had to immediately buy my own copy. It is books & articles such as
this one that must carry the day in today's secular world.
But I fear I am "preaching to the choir... ."
