Russ, but that's what the text states (in plain Greek with NO hint of any
textual problems); and really one with literalistic tendencies like
you should be upholding the text.

Russ, they used the BEST scientific ideas of THEIR day, not the "wrong
scientific ideas of their day." But those ideas have since
been superceded. Just like the reproductive science of Sarah's day
(Preformation Theory) was superceded with the Double Seed Theory as seen
in Heb 11:11, and just as this notion was superceded with our view of
reproductive science . . . . AND JUST LIKE THE DE NOVO/CREATION BY FIAT
VIEW OF CREATION (ie, Gen 1 & 2) HAS BEEN SUPERCEDED WITH AN EVOLUTIONARY
VIEW OF CREATION.
To conclude, the Holy Spirit inspired revelation is NOT the cosmology, it is
the theology. Major creedal statements in the history of the Church have
never focussed on cosmology, but rather theology.
In Him,
Denis
