Well, I can only relate my experiences on this point. I wouldn't expect to
be allowed to 'teach my views' in a YEC church. I wouldn't expect to be
allowed to teach my views in a TE Lutheran Church either, really. Naturally
as someone who holds the views I do, I interact with YECs as someone who
respectfully disagrees on that issue. But I really do strive to be
respectful, and so far (I'm sure, given enough time, I'll have another
experience) the result has been respect in turn, not to mention quite a lot
of agreement on other issues.
Keep in mind, I'm also able to have fruitful conversations with muslims and
mormons. I tend to go out of my way to seek out views of those different
than myself, to better understand them. Maybe I'm naturally diplomatic.
