Concerning your sponsoring the event, "Thousands... Not Billions"

I recently received an email from a fellow Christian and science teacher
at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia who was appalled that your
organization has been duped into sponsoring this science bashing event
on May 20th. She and I both are active members of American Scientific
Affiliation and we are vehemently opposed to these attempts by ICR to
undermine the credibility of the Christian faith by advocating that the
Bible is in opposition to science. This is disingenuous, self serving
and wrong headed.

My ministry in Arlington, Virginia provides materials on our web page
that if you would read them would cause you or any other Christian
organization to immediately cancel this event and keep these California
crazies on the left coast where they belong. I live in Virginia. I
worship in a Baptist church in Virginia. And I resent these search and
destroy missions sent here by non-Virginians and non-Baptists. Here are
two articles published in Perspectives on Science and Christian Faith
that should show you how misguided these ministers of misinformation
are. Please disseminate them among the members of your organization.

"The Days of Creation: Hours or Eons"

"Young-Earth Creationism: A Literal Mistake"

And specific to their lack of understanding on rates of radiometric
decay this is an article by Dr. Roger Wiens: Here is his bio: Dr. Wiens
has a PhD in Physics, with a minor in Geology. His PhD thesis was on
isotope ratios in meteorites, including surface exposure dating. He was
employed at Caltech's Division of Geological & Planetary Sciences at the
time of writing the first edition. He is presently employed in the Space
& Atmospheric Sciences Group at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

If you decide to cancel their event and need something in its place I
would be happy to present my seminar on "Historical Genesis" that I
presented at Manassas Baptist Church and Eastern Mennonite University.

Faithfully yours,
