    Iaian-

I think you have hit upon an essential point, especially within the area of
origins, where a mixture of beliefs and intellect combine to produce strong
reactions in many situations. I have noticed a similar phenomena that you
have discussed here with the forum, yet I have been desensitized to it. The
first real discussion I had with other believers about origins entailed me
being called to question as a true believer and a follower of Satan several
times. It seems wherever you turn to discuss these issues, a similar
attitude follows, whether evolution is your ticket, or YEC. I particularly
veiw comments about YEC on this site as not especially loving, but I guess I
am too accustomed to it to expect any differently. Thank you for the
challenge and the sharing!! A while ago during my study I came across this
very relevant scripture, for your enjoyment:

    2 Timothy 2

22Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and
peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23Don't
have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they
produce quarrels. 24And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he
must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25Those who oppose
him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance
leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26and that they will come to
their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them
    captive to do his will.

Fortunately for us, God has promised to do the work of leading people to
repentance and knowledge of the truth. This might help us relieve some of
the responsibility we feel to force our opinion on others, and accept the
    role of GENTLE instructor.

    Josh
