SCIENCE EDUCATION: ASSISTANT PROFESSOR. The College of Arts and Sciences
and the College of Education at Western Michigan University invite
applications and nominations for a tenure-track interdisciplinary position
in secondary science education methods. Position to begin Fall 2001. Earned
doctorate in science education required. Applicants must have demonstrated
strength in Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Physics or related science.
Experience in teaching secondary science education methods is preferred.
Candidates possessing a record of scholarly activity in science education
preferred, as are candidates with experience integrating technology into
teaching, distance learning or other emerging information technologies.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate science education methods
courses, serving as a liaison between the Colleges of Education and Arts
and Sciences, service to the professional education unit, and on-going
collaboration with science education teachers. May be assigned graduate
level teaching, as well as teaching off-campus. Normal expectations of all
University faculty include advising, maintaining scholarly productivity in
research, publications and professional presentations, participating in
College and University committees and providing service to the field.
