ANTICIPATED FACULTY POSITION IN SCIENCE EDUCATION
Calvin College, a Christian 4-year comprehensive college, seeks applications
for an anticipated tenure track position in elementary science education.
Requirements:
-MS degree in one of the natural sciences and a Ph.D. in science
education, or a Ph.D. in one of the natural sciences.
-Teaching experience in elementary or middle school science.
-Potential for or demonstrated competencies in science education research,
publication, proposal writing, and curriculum development.
-Demonstrated understanding of current learning theories and teaching
models.
Highly Desirable Qualification: Expertise in life science. Candidates with
backgrounds in other areas of science (but also having experience in life
science) will be considered as well.
Responsibilities:
-Share a joint appointment in science education and in a "home" department
within the Science Division at Calvin College. (It is expected that the
appointee will teach some content courses within his/her home department.)
-Teach science methods courses for pre-service elementary school teachers.
-Conduct research and other scholarly activities in science education.
-Take leadership in the development and teaching of an inquiry-based life
science course for elementary education students.
Starting Date: Sept. 1, 2000

position is filled.
