Don,

The phrase translated `after its kind' or `after their kind' in Genesis 1
also occurs several times in the Flood account in Genesis 6 and 7 as well
as in the dietary laws in Leviticus 11. It might make sense to look at
those passages for clues as to the meaning of this phrase.
