The institution information: John Brown University is a
non-denominational Christian university, known for its doctrinal
distinctive: head, heart and hand: Intellectual development, service
oriented, practically trained. The university is located in the
foothills of the Ozark mountains in the small town (around 9,000
persons) of Siloam Springs. The town is within 2 hours of
Tulsa, OK, Joplin, MO, and Fayetteville and Fort Smith AR.
The engineering division awards a Bachelor of Engineering degree
with a mechanical or electrical emphasis (ABET accreditation is
pending). The division consists of 6 full-time faculty: 3 electrical
and 3 mechanical. Being a non-tenure, teaching institution, faculty
are evaluated on their teaching ability - research and/or contract
development is not required for continued employment.
Position information: The (possibly) pending position is for an
electrical faculty. Present responsibilities include teaching
analog and digital electronics, electronics laboratories, circuit
analysis and additional classes to total 9-12 hours per semester.
There will be opportunities (due to retiring faculty) to teach
electromagnetics, control systems or digital signal processing in the
future.
A master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent is
required. A doctoral degree, professional registration, and/or
industrial experience is desired. JBU does not discriminate on the
