The contradiction I invoke is not between your idea and Dick's, it's between
BOTH your ideas and the notion that there is a literal Adam. What I do is form
a synthesis from your thesis and antithesis. The Bible suggests BOTH that Adam
is a progenitor (old) and that he existed only a few thousand years ago (young). These are BOTH true in my view (i.e., that the Bible says this). Regardless
of the logical form in which this is stated, a real Adam CANNOT be both of these
things, so a literal interpretation fails.
Actually, as you surely must know, there already is a contradiction in the
Bible about Adam's time line. There are actually 2 different Creation stories
that place Adam's time of occurrence within contradicting time frames -- In
Genesis 1:12, Adam is created after all life. but an entirely new story begins
near the beginning of Chapter 2, and Adam is created before all plant and
animal life. A real problem for the chronology of a literal Adam!
