Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) — 3900 Lomaland Dr, San Diego, CA 92106 — has a scenic location: on one side is Sunset Cliffs Park & Pacific Ocean, on the other side it's near two yacht clubs on the bay (1.4 miles) and Shoreline Park, as you can see on this map. When you arrive on-campus for the meeting: |
• TRAVELING to San Diego by Car - Plane (plus Return to Airport) - Train - Bus
• by DRIVING
For your GPS navigation system, the campus address of PLNU is 3900 Lomaland Dr, San Diego, CA 92106. Or use map services like GoogleMaps & Yahoo Maps & Mapquest.
SHARING RIDES — There are two travel-topics in ASA's website forums, for Riders-and-Drivers & Sharing a Ride from the Airport: click this link or go to the page for ASA's Annual Meeting and click "Meetings and Conferences Forum" — then Sign In (*), look for the two forums that begin with "ASA Meeting...", read the first post (with my explanations), and share your information with others. / * For the "Sign In", if necessary you can register for free with a username (email address) and password; if you're an ASA member, use your ASA password, if not just invent one.
If you're driving, please help others get to the conference (they will appreciate this) and please use the Ride Board ASAP. Why? Because this might help others make their plans. For example, if they can ride with you, they may do this instead of buying a ticket for a plane, train, or bus. But they must know that you're driving before they buy their ticket (and usually the sooner a ticket is purchased the cheaper it is, and more scheduling options are still open) so if you post your "ride offered" information ASAP this might help someone make plans. Thanks! :<)
• by FLYING
San Diego International Airport (SAN) has links for Transportation (shuttles, rentals, taxis, public) and more. Also, wikipedia; and iFly has links for Ground Transport.
• Getting from the airport to PLNU:
The distance from SAN to PLNU is about 4 miles.
SAN and iFly have links for taxis & shuttles (or just find one when you arrive) and ASA has a forum-board (it's above in "by Driving") for Sharing a Ride from the Airport.
Metro Bus — information — Using their Trip Planner and "Choose a Landmark" feature, a mid-afternoon trip from "Airport Terminal 2" to "Point Loma Nazarene University" is 3 buses (42 minutes, 14 to travel and 28 waiting); from Terminal 1, it's 4 buses (39 travel + 36 waiting = 75 minutes). The Trip Planner doesn't calculate a fare; they don't seem to offer transfers, instead they suggest that "Passengers taking trips involving multiple transfers should consider purchasing a Regional Day Pass" for $5.00.
• For your return trip, from PLNU to the airport, at the conference there will be a physical Sharing Board where you can write information, offers, and requests.
