What my friend was referring to, of course, is the way the word
was used in the past. Word definitions change -- not abruptly,
but gradually. That's why we need to focus on
definitions so much -- particularly in e-mail.
The example I like to use is the word "gentleman."
Today, it means "a good guy"
200 years ago it meant "he who owns lots of land."
