I don't know what it is about the Calvin listserver, but it cut off my post again! Is there anyone who looks out for that computer? Can anyone check and see if there is anything wrong with it?

That assumes that this is the only universe that has ever existed or that could ever exist, and thus must have a purpose to it. In point of fact, we simply cannot say that because we have no way of knowing whether it's true. In fact, both the oscillating and baby universe theories allow for the possibility of previous or currently existing universes besides our own, so there would be no reason to suppose that our universe must be special.
