I am one who could never accept, on the authority of another human being with the same capacity as me to discern reality, the existence of any supernatural being. When Jesus asked his disciples who they thought he was Simon Peter answered "you are the Christ the Son of the Living God." Jesus replied, "blessed are you Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man but by my Father in heaven. Matthew 16:16,17.

I believe there is a personal, compassionate, all powerful God because His Spirit is at work in me. This could be gullibility, and even madness. I see everything I experience as His work for good in me. I know this makes me as gullible as they come. And, if it is a delusion, then we are, as Paul says, "of all men most to be pitied".

If we are wrong, at the very least, we have set ourselves apart from a corrupt world that is, except by the most wishful thinking, doomed.

If we are right :

"No eye has seen
no ear has heard
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those
who love him.
but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit."
1 Corinthinans 2: 9,10
