While my questions may not apply directly to the issue of evolution or

I am not a Bible scholar nor a linguist but a few questions come to mind:
....Do the number of translation steps from the original language
to the language of the Bible used by the reader make a noteworthy
difference in the accuracy of the translation being read? In what
way? Are any major issues at stake?
....How many translation steps away from the Hebrew and Greek
is the New American Standard Bible, for example? how about
any other translations in use today? i.e., how many steps away?
....Do Biblical scholars use original languages or tools that enable
them to refer to these languages? Do they compare a number
of translations?
....Does strictly the age of a writing prove anything about its
validity or lack thereof?
....Which politically-reasoned revisions are in question? How
do they invalidate the Biblical text overall?
