I would also point out that God didn't require a meat-free diet in
the dietary laws given to Moses. And, in the parable of the prodigal
son, Jesus tells of a father who had a "fatted calf" prepared for a
celebration banquet.

So in the words of the immortal Yosemite Sam, "Say yer prayers, varmit"
... and pass the fatted calf!
