In this discussion between Glenn Morton and Dario Giraldo, we are
given the following chart and then asked about Cainan.

I took a little time this weekend to read the geneologies in Gen 10 & 11
and in Luke 3 in both the KJV and NIV. Interestingly enough, my NIV has
footnotes attached to the Genesis verses (From memory, I believe they were
Gen 10:24 & 11:13) that adds Cainan to the list. In Gen 11, the footnote
goes on to say that the Septuagint adds (again quoting from my poor memory)
"... Arphaxad was 35 when he begat Canain. Canain was 130 when he begat
Salah and lived xxx(?) more years begatting sons and daughters."

Apparently Luke's geneology corresponds with a version of the Septuagint
that was not used in the KJV translation (and only used for footnotes in
the NIV). Does this mean we should move creation back to 4134 B.C.? ;-)
