In quoting the Wolfe snippet, I inadvertendly identified "Wilson" as James Q.,
author of The Moral Sense, instead of "Edward O." the Harvard zoologist. Wolfe
mentions both in his article, as JQ expanded upon EO's thesis that "genetics
determine not only things such as temperament, role preferences, emotional
responses, and levels of aggression, but also many of our most revered moral
choices, which are not choices at all in any free-will sense but
tendencies imprinted in the hypothalamus and limbic regions of the brain." But
in the section I quoted, he's referring to EO.
