Jim Bell mentioned that Terry Gray bases his views in part on the theology
of his church. I'm sure Terry will respond and state his own position, but
as a Calvinist I feel I should respond too.

There is nothing about Calvinism that forces one into one position or the
other on origins. Calvin himself mentions in passing that he believes the
earth is 5500 years old in The Institutes, and the Westminster Confession
teaches a 6 day creation(without explicitly defining "day" however). Most
of the Calvinists I know tend to favor young-earth creationist views.

I do believe that TE, EC and PC views can be more easily integrated into
Calvinism than, say, Dispensationalism, because Calvinists seem to me to be
more inclined to let Scripture interpret Scripture when trying to interpret
symbolism in Scripture.

I reject Jim's implication that basing one's views on something like the
Westminster Confession is somehow unScriptural. In my pilgrimage from
Arminianism to Calvinism -- a process which took 7 or 8 years -- one of the
chief factors which attracted me to the Westminster Confession was the
painstaking way the Westminster Divines who wrote in the 1640's had
documented their assertions from Scripture.
