In my reply to Stephen I promised to post to the reflector
some material that I have on Hubert Yockey. There will
be twelve such posts with subject headings Yockey#1 #2 ...

As an aid to wading through all this I'm giving a
brief summary of what you can expect to find in each
subsequent post.

========================================================
Summary of Yockey Material to be Posted to the Reflector
========================================================

File Name Description
========= ===========

Yockey#1 Response to various reviews of his book,
posted to bionet.info-theory

Yockey#2 Reply to Y#1 by Tom Schneider. TS is unofficial
"moderator" of bionet.info-theory

Yockey#3 Reply to Y#1 by Avshalom Elitzur. Yockey's recent
paper in _J. Theor. Biology_ is in reply to
Elitzur: Elitzur, A. C. (1994a) Let there be life:
Thermodynamic reflections on biogenesis
and evolution. _Journal of Theoretical
Biology_, 168:429--459.

Yockey#4 A post by Koichiro Matsuno (bionet.info-theory)
followed by Yockey's reply. Yockey's accusations
against Sydney Fox are particularly interesting.
The tie in is that Matsuno was co-author with
Fox on an important contribution to the abiogenesis
literature. Fox is well known for the "proteinoid"
scenario for the origin of life. Fox gets pretty
rough treatment in Yockey's book.

Yockey#5 Another post to bionet.info-theory. Has to do with
the soup, more specifically the inappropriateness
of certain people trying to attach Darwin's name
to the idea via his "warm little pond" quote.

Yockey#6 This is a more "technical" post dealing with
"Mutual information, mutual entropy, uncertainty,
order, orderliness". Significant for those
interested in probability calculations based on
info-theory.

The following four were posted to talk.origins. Needless to say,
a lively interchange ensued ;-). Since I'm only giving Yockey's
posts, it may be difficult in some cases to interpret (due to
the missing context).

Yockey#7 I believe this was Yockey's first post of any
significant length. Most significant part:
"To: Brian D. Harper: ... You get an A!" :-)

Yockey#8 This is a "bulk reply" to several individuals.
In particular, one of our newest reflectorites,
Tim Ikeda, is mentioned by name. Main subjects
are prob. calculation, soups, and chemical
evolution.

BTW, let me take this opportunity to welcome Tim Ikeda to
the reflector. I have had the pleasure of reading Tim's
posts on talk.origins for some time and was delighted to
see him join us. In spite of what Hubert might say ;-),
I think Tim is a very fair-minded individual and I look
forward to his contributions to the reflector.

Yockey#9 The subject line: "Belief in a Pre-Biotic
Soup is a Religious or Ideological Belief"
;-)

Yockey#10 Somewhat off the subject of the posts above,
this one treats very briefly the fallacy that
(I think it was) Art Chadwick mentioned just
recently. Key: "It is not true that the
probability of any event, no matter how improbable,
becomes unity once it has occurred."

The following two are excerpts from Yockey's publications
that I thought would be of interest.

Yockey#11 From his book. subject: the entropy argument
against evolution.

Yockey#12 From his letter to _BioEssays_
