1000 generations

Regarding Jim Blake's comment, it seems to me that
the Deuteronomy comment on 1000 generations looks forward,
not back. Incidentally, that is an explanatory text to
Exodus 34:7, where the reference is a little more obscure
and sometimes causes confusion regarding the 3 or 4
generations of judgment. Rather than underscoring the
severity of judgment, the Exodus text compared with Deut.
is a pretty impressive statement about the grace and
covenant faithfulness of God.
