regarding Jim Blake's math: I want to make clear that I do not know how many
nucleotide substitutions are required to make a new allele. The number 6 has
been banded around but it may be that there needs to be more than 6 and this
process must be able to account for all 59 MHC alleles. I just wanted to be
sure that we were not miscommunicating.
