What do you do with the water receding and drying after the flood?

Also, we later find that Ham (through Canaan) became the grandfather of the
Hittites, Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, and Hivites (among others). These
Canaanites of course were the bad guys during much of Israel's early history.
Do you see these tribes having survived intact for millions of years?<<

Since the Mediterranean basin is still full, obviously, it didn't
dry out, but that fits the statement in Gen. 6:13 that God says,
"For the earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold
I am about to destroy them with the earth [land]" NIV

God didn't destroy the "EARTH" as we view the earth, but he did
destroy the land which used to exist. So, since the basin is still
filled, what about the receding and drying after the flood. I will
try to draw this in ascii (which is always difficult)

rain forms here upward component of moist
air causes rain way out
here. (100's of miles)

In my view, the ark ended up far south on the Nile arm of the
Mediterranean. When the basin was dry, the Nile eroded a huge canyon
that dwarfs the Grand Canyon into the continental slope. It became
a water-filled gulf when the Mediterranean filled up. When the
Russian Engineers were looking for bedrock to anchor the Aswan dam
in Egypt they found the Nile had eroded a canyon 650 feet below
sealevel up there. That is hundreds of miles from the current
coast. The present sediments filling this canyon were deposited
afterwards.
Here is what I believe the receding and draining refer to. The
land far away would have been flooded and so, there would be a
recession and drying of the land in the region of the landing site.
And yes, I have checked, the olive tree not only grows in this
region but it is found as fossils also.

Concerning the question about the the three families of Noah. One of the
things which really struck me during the research was that if you assume that
God outlawed brother sister marriages in those people, by the third
generation, everybody is related to everybody. It is outlined below.

Shem's child Ham's child Japheth's child
\ \ / \ / /
\ \ / \ / /
\ X X /
\ / \ / \ /
\ / \ / \ /
grandchild grandchild grandchild
(SH) (SJ) (HJ)

Take this generation and have cousin marriages.

\ \ / \ / /
\ X X /
\ / \ / \ /
\ / \ / \ /
great-grand great-grand great-grand
kid kid kid
(SH-SJ) (SH-HJ) (SJ-HJ)

Thus, I am every bit as much a child of Ham as is anyone and everybit as much
a child of Shem and Japheth. This story can not be used in the racist
fashion that it was in the last century.
My view is that there three families formed three cultures which eventually
did drift apart.
