I sense frustration emerging on the reflector in ever-intensifying waves.
I get the sense that there may be a need to back up a couple steps, away
from this or that bit of data, and discuss some meta-issues at the
assumption level that may be affording some of the frustration.
What I haven't gotten a grip on yet, and I think it is key, is the
relationship of chance and God's sovereignty. Donald MacKay has
sought to articulate two different levels of chance, in order to render
the term useful or palatable to the Christian theist. I'm not sure
I have caught the distinction, or have understood the proper (i.e.
Christian) way of talking about "chance."
If anyone has done some contemplation on this issue, or wishes to take up
this thread, please post to the reflector. The relevant books for starters
would be MacKay's _The Clockwork Image_ and Monod's _Chance and Necessity_.
