There is so much we can inquire and learn with the aid of our own efforts. In that sense, it is like studying how aspirin works. However, it is only in revealed truths that we can truly learn and know the true nature of man. Science can never give a satisfactory description of humans since it cannot go beyond the purely physical. The reason I know that I have a free will and a conscious self is because I am the detector that detects such things. Purely physical devices cannot detect such nonphysical entities.

True, but we can investigate aspirin scientifically. Not with
Christianity, unless we define it so tightly that the term becomes
useless.
