[asa] The Assyrians

This is an interesting brief history of the Assyrians. Going back to
Genesis 10:11, where one of Noah's grandsons, Asshur, founded Nineveh
the Assyrians still exist in one form or another to this day. What is
largely unrecognized is their conversion to Christianity under the
tutelage of Jesus' Apostles and their vast missionary efforts throughout
the world that lasted over a thousand years. One of the most famous
Assyrian kings, Sennacherib, warred against Hezekiah (2 Chron. 32:1-37).
It was Sennacherib who destroyed Babylon, leveling the entire city which
included the original Tower of Babel. The tower was later rebuilt by
Nebuchadnezzar who stamped his name on the bricks. Recently, Saddam
Hussein attempted to restore Babylon as a tourist attraction and had his
name stamped on the bricks in keeping with tradition. Which just shows,
don't mess with God's judgment.
