That is a good issue to struggle with, I think. Try explaining the possibility that humans may be around for a million years to Christians like Hal Lindsey, his followers, and other Christian leaders with the same idea (like all the preachers on TBN for one group?). I think that saying that some scientists think that the human race could
survive for millions of years is a far cry from saying that it will. Rare
events in earth's past have caused mass extinctions. Some species of
hominids have become extinct. Pandemics have caused significant declines
in the human population. There may be other dangers that noone has thought
of. Our present science is not adequate for predicting the future of the
human race.
