Hi Michael, Did the show address what happened to these impressive scientific advancements (and there were many) following 1200?  Mathematics and stellar names are obvious examples of benefits given to all, but what happened to many of the other advancements? I ask because I have seen their own religion blamed for the suppresion of these scientific efforts. [I would ask more questions but I am now free to eat some of the Aero bars that just arrived from London from a fellow worker.  Very nice candy, btw.] Coope ________________________________ From: Michael Roberts <michael.andrea.r@ukonline.co.uk> To: Christine Smith <christine_mb_smith@yahoo.com>; asa@calvin.edu Sent: Monday, January 5, 2009 5:03:39 PM Subject: Re: [asa] History of Science article The article was about a BBC4 programme on Arabic/Muslim science , the first part was shown tonight. I watched it and though my knowledge of Arabic science of 800-1200 is sketchy I found it a very good programme, well-researched and well-presented. In one sense I learnt nothing new as I was more than aware of the importance of Arabic science, but it was good to see it presented well at a popular level.
