Ibn-al Haytham was indeed one of the greatest scientists, but whether or not
he compares favorably or not to Newton is not something I will get into. I
don't know nearly enough about him to have a serious opinion on that.
I do think that some other scientists compare well with Newton -- Kepler
and Einstein would be in that group -- but I don't want to go into that
right now, either. We in the West rarely hear about the great scientists
from medieval Islamic civilization, but they were the world leaders at the
time.
