IMO, a "deist" position has considerable practical value, when arguing
formally with an atheist--esp one like Dawkins, who (like Lewontin) isn't
going to let the divine foot into the door.
One also has to be well prepared to go beyond that, and quickly, but it can
be a starter when a more robust theism is a non-starter.
