My guess is that it would be taken as "some of you will see it"-only
three saw the Transfiguration. 11 of the 12 lived to see Jesus
post-resurrection, but at least sometimes He did not appear impressive
externally, not counting being alive with crucifixion scars. Seeing
Jesus' full glory for them may not have happened until they died.

The particular commentary I read cited that interpretation but was
more inclined to take the Transfiguration as one of the many events
taking place within the disciples' lifetime that vindicated Jesus'
claims about Himself and therefore did not especially develop the
Transfiguration-specific idea.
