Michael,

When Parker said this I immediately thought of you and all the history of
geology posts, articles, & books you've written. So when I included it in
my conference report posting, I was also fairly sure that this simplistic
myth would get a response from you. <grins> Thanks for keeping us honest
on our history.

Despite the inaccuracy of the statement, it was one of Parker's main
points. He repeated it again later in the day during his closing remarks.
