Update:

The Arctic sea ice seems to have stabilized at around 3 million sq. km. The lowest being 2.99 million sq. km. The previous record for the lowest NH sea ice was 4.01 million sq. km. in 2005.

  One month before the end of the summer melt in the NH, the area of sea ice broke the record for the lowest ice area in recorded history.
