RE: [asa] James Kennedy

For too long Christians have not taken an active interest in the policies of our nation and the elected people who run it. The removal of prayers in school and the legalization of abortion on demand by a few Supreme Court judges was an awakening call. James Kennedy was in the vanguard of the fight against this plight that was contrary to our Christian faith but also usurped constitutional rights by allowing judges to act as legislators.

When his church announced last week that Dr. Kennedy would not return to the pulpit -- he preached his final sermon Christmas Eve -- the Rev. Harold McSwain, pastor of a United Church of Christ in Fort Lauderdale, told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel: "I've had to deal with a lot of wounded people coming to me in tears and in anger because of the kind of hate he fosters."

I wouldn't want that a part of my obituary.

I have just heard that James Kennedy of Coral Ridge Ministries has died. I

believe that some of his statements about creation were the subject of one

thread on this list some time ago.
