I suggest that the debate here turns on word definitions rather than
anything fundamental.
My own take, FWIW, is that most engineering is a branch of science. I
began as a physicist and veered off course <G> into "computer science"
after a few years. For me, the transition was largely seamless.
Principles and precepts of the former were applicable to the latter.
