Re: [asa] dot com

According to a "whois" lookup, asa3.com is owned by Salvia Corp., a Latvian
company, which has owned the name since 2003. The site to which that domain
currently points appears to be a "link farm." The purpose of a link farm is
to supply links to other sites in order to boost their search engine
rankings. Thus, you can see links like "pharmacy," "Jewish singles," and
"Real estate training" on the asa3.com page along with things like
"evolution" and "Teiard [sic] de Chardin".

A very quick review of WIPO Domain Name Dispute Resolution decision
indicates that Salvia Corp. is a known cybersquatter and is regularly
engaged in the link farm business. (See
http://www.wipo.int/amc/en/domains/decisions/html/2006/d2006-0474.html and
http://www.wipo.int/amc/en/domains/decisions/html/2005/d2005-1135.html)

Therefore, it is unlikely that ASA would be able to buy this domain back
from Salvia for a reasonable price. However, if ASA were to file a
cybersquatting complaint against Salvia under the Uniform Domain Name
Dispute Resolution Procedure ("UDRP"), there is a good chance ASA would
succeed in winning an order requiring transfer of that domain to the ASA.
The cost of filing a UDRP complaint is minimal, but it's wise to hire
counsel to handle the proceeding, and that can be a little more costly
(probably around $5,000 in fees if there are no unanticipated problems).
