Yes, God can and does overcome our disobedience. What you quoted deals with
preaching the truth for bad motives. On the other hand, what we are
discussing is communication that is done for the best of motives but is not
the truth. Futhermore, I would contend that it is not the Gospel when a
Moonie who believes in ID/YEC is held as being orthodox and an Evangelical
who is not is branded a heretic. The Gospel is made into the idol of YEC.
Because YEC gets so conflated with the Gospel when the former is discovered
to be false so does the latter. When I ceased to be a YEC I clearly
understood the distinction between the Gospel and YEC and thus avoided the
faith crisis discussed here. Most prominent YEC proponents on the other hand
do not make that vital distinction. Take Ken Ham's "eulogy" of Steve
Irwin.

Apparently what was witnessed to by AiG supporters was not the Gospel but
Creationism. Note what was bemoaned was that Irwin wasn't a Creationist
rather than he wasn't a Christian.

Maybe we should not fear for the ones who appear to lose faith but we should
for those who cause it. [Note: I am a Calvinist and know where you are
going. It should be noted that according to Calvinist theology
predestination does not abrogate responsibility as illustrated by the
following Scripture.]
