I would suggest a book that I have used for many years - it has become dated somewhat, and its treatment of TE is too weak - is Dr James Boice, Commentary on Genesis vol 1. Boice was a well recognized conservative reformed theologian and best identified as a OEC. He originally gave a series of sermons describing, defending and criticizing different views (E, TE, Gap, YEC and OEC). It is the fairest work of a conservative theologian dealing with these issues.

I would also recommend Noll and Livingston, Evolution, Science and Scripture: Selected Writings of BB Warfield. They collect his works that touch on science and evolution. Warfield was open to TE and certainly OE, and treated science respectfully. Warfield was also a great (if not THE great) supporter of inerrancy of the old Princeton school.

Subject: request for good library books

Our librarian (at a Christian K-12) school has asked teachers to submit titles
we would like to see in our library. YEC is already well-represented there.
Do any of you have suggestions for books that would give the "other side" while
being respectful to Christianity or religion in general? Or even if it was
hostile towards religious thought... But the most of the books we have, hostile
or not, still promote the warfare model (thought YECs wouldn't see it that
way.) What suggestions would well represent the less antagonistic strands of
thought?

Thanks.
