I'm inclined (perhaps partially by personal inertia of having always
assumed it) towards dualist thinking as well, and I do think there is
significant Biblical ground for it. But I have also heard from (and
respect) some who adhere to monism --- perhaps we'll hear from them ---
who also seem to have good scriptural basis for thinking of the
"spiritual" and "physical" as being more inextricably enmeshed or fused
into one unified reality if we could but understand it. They may tend
to be suspicious of dualistic thinking as verging on heretical
Gnosticism. But I probably go too far defending something that I
haven't fully invested in. I do resonate with those who insist on an
original goodness of the creation of which we are apart (as long as they
also acknowledge our falleness from that state).
