Actually, if you examine the most complete text that is considered 'oldest',
you will see that it has a gap in the text where the verse would be.

But, I hardly think that the NT is in danger of being "sissored" to death,
even by "enlightened" scholars. With a rare exception or two the textual
critics of the NT whose work I am familiar with are observant Christians
dedicated to reconstructing the history of the texts they study.
 
Who are they, may I ask?
