Bob wrote, in part: " The Cathars were also known as the Albigensians,
after the city of Albi
in southern France, then the independent Kingdom of Provence, which was
one
of their chief cities. A French army with papal blessing went after
these
Gnostic/Manichaean Chrisitans in the early 13th century."
Thanks, Bob. I remember reading (or hearing in a class lecture) some of
that stuff a year or so ago. I probably ought to look deeper into it (so
many books, so little time). <G>
I do remember a class discussion on whether the Cathars were:
1. Christians
2. Misguided Christians
3. Heretical Christians
4. heretics
5. Non-Christians
At a school like Iliff, of course, no consensus was reached. <G>
