"Please name some theistic science popularizers who actually include
their theism in their works."
In response to this question, two geologists came immediately to mind.
One is Simon Conway Morris who is an internationally respected
authority on the early evolution of metazoans and the "Cambrian
explosion." He is the author of The Crucible of Creation: The Burgess
Shale and the Rise of Animals (New York: Oxford University Press,
1998). Conway Morris's theological/philosophical perspectives come
out in a number of his scientific writings.
The other author is E.G. Nisbet who is an authority on the Precambrian
history of life and the environment of the early Earth. In an article
with N.H. Sleep entitled "The habitat and nature of early life," in
Nature (vol. 409 (2001): 1083-1091) he concludes the article with
theological and philosophical musings and a quote from C.S Lewis. He
also wrote a book entitled (as I remember) "The Young Earth" in which
his theological views are also expressed.
